Department of Chemistry and ecology

The Department of Chemistry and Ecology (CE) was organized in 2026 on the basis of the Department of Chemistry, Chemical Technology and Ecology and is currently one of the leading departments of the Almaty Technological University. Its formation is connected both with the history of the university's development since 1957, and with a significant contribution to the educational process and scientific research.

Department management

Over the years, the department was led by outstanding scientists and honored figures of education and science:

• Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Omarkulov T.O.
• Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Almabekov O.A.
• Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Taussarova B.R.

Currently, Head of the department is PhD Zhaksybayeva G.S.

Educational programs

The CE Department trains highly qualified specialists in the «Ecology» educational program who are able to solve complex environmental problems, introduce innovative environmental technologies and facilitate Kazakhstan's transition to a model of sustainable development and a green economy.

The Department of CE has a high level of resource provision, which makes it possible to form a sustainably functioning educational and scientific platform that meets international standards.

Accreditation and recognition

The educational program «Ecology» is included in the Republican Register of educational programs of universities of Kazakhstan, has a state license and is accredited by leading national accreditation agencies.:

• Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IAQAE)
• National Agency for Accreditation and Rating (NAAR)

In the ratings of IAQAE, NAAR and NPP Atameken, the educational program «Ecology» occupies a leading position among the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The motto of the CE Department «Ecology — the foundation of knowledge for a sustainable future» reflects the strategic direction of the department - the professional growth of competitive graduates, their relevance and contribution to sustainable development.
